All the web pages that you view on the internet are created by individuals, connected through the internet, and are stored together on a web server. In simpler words, the web server acts as a computer and stores the various web pages the same way in which a computer stores folders and files, for instant access. The only difference here being that the web server acts as an advanced computer with much greater specification than the ones we use!

The documents on your computer and hard drive are only for one’s personal use, but the web pages here that we are talking about are made with the intention of being viewed by the general masses. Now this is where the term ‘web hosting’ comes into being. It can simply be defined as the act of bringing web pages and web sites into easy access for multiple users. Another common terminology is the ‘web space’. It is called so because in a way people are buying the ‘space’ on the internet to host their web pages. It is very much possible to conduct web hosting from your own personal PC, but one can also not possibly have a strong enough internet connection which can reach multiple users, therefore there are web hosting which can be approached.
